Install the macOS installer

Double-click the downloaded file to open a window showing its contents. Then double-click the file within, named InstallMacOSX.pkg.

Begin installation

SuperTuxKart is a similar, free and open-source game, which you can download here for Windows and Mac. If you are using Linux, then you can find a version on the developer’s website right here.

During our test on Windows, it took quite a while to download and install the game, since the size of it is approximately 200 MB. What you will notify the first time you open SuperTuxKart, of course, is that this game stars Tux, the Linux penguin, instead of Mario. There are also other playable characters, such as Adiumy and Wilber, which are clearly based on other open-source applications. The gameplay is very similar to Nintendo’s games, and you can also collect boxes with different types of advantages to win over your friends.

We did not have the time to try all the game modes, but there are several, including Normal Race, Time Trial, Follow the Leader and Egg Hunt. The game also supports multiplayer, and there is even a Story Mode. Awesome!
